For easy one-off card printing, the Magicard Tempo and Alto are hand-fed, which is ideal for loyalty cards where one card is issued at a time. These printers can be used with both full color and monochrome ribbons. Full color can be used for the main loyalty card design, while it is often more economical to print card holder information in black.

Retail loyalty ID card schemes which store "points" or "value" are ideally implemented using smart cards which can store customer details and preferences as well as accumulated loyalty points.
